Some of the questions had multiple ideas in them and I didn’t agree with all the ideas.

It also seemed like the city forgot to realize what Olympia’s demographics look like given our large population of retirees. Reducing the size of streets would not only make driving more difficult for seniors, but would add to traffic congestion.

Adding more restaurants and other businesses is a good idea, but they neglected to mention adding more parking. I am mad that they took away parking for the Washington Center as parking far away on the street with poor lighting does not feel safe for us. And, not all of us can either walk great distances or bike all over the place. I moved here specifically for retirement so that I could easily drive a car when I’m older.

Also, their building suggestions for new construction left little to be desired. I think low height buildings that neither look ‘industrial’ nor like a mobile home, but maybe more ‘lodge’ like with stone and timbers would be better suited for the Pacific Northwest. I don’t think we should allow the influence of the Evergreen College to influence the look of our buildings or city.

Thank you for doing your blog.

Bev TorgusonBev Torgusonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8310124704019321251.post-48453151584200664542016-03-22T09:26:29.884-07:002016-03-22T09:26:29.884-07:00This is the first time I've seen your blog.
